Southern Electric is one of the oldest energy companies in UK and serving the people
of England for many decades. It is now a part of Scottish and Southern Energy group
(SSE). SSE, one of the UK’s premier suppliers of Gas and Electric energy, is
composed of Swalec in Wales, Scottish Hydro Electric in Scotland, Atlantic Electric
and Gas and Southern Electric in England. The group is serving more than 7.5
million customers in a largest distribution group of UK. It is an FTSE 100 company.
SSE also has a gas storage capacity equalling 9% of the UK’s gas storage capacity.

On the day of moving
Record your last meter readings of Gas and Electricity on the day of leaving. Also
read the initial meter readings at your new home and provide the details to the
company. They will send you the final bill for your old residences and set-up a new
account at the new home based on the readings given by you.

Prices
Southern Electric reduced the gas prices by12% from March 2007 and electricity
prices by 5% from April 2007 in line with the parent company Scottish and Southern
Energy.

Special offers
Southern electric offers RSPB green tariff, in association with Royal Society for
Protection of Birds. When a customer switches to Southern electric for both gas and
electricity a portion of the initial payment, ú20, is contributed to the RSPB. An
additional contribution of ú10 is also made to RSPB every year as long as the
customer stays with the company.
